Recently, the media featured an influencer who couldn’t sell 36 t-shirts to 2.6 million followers. You may have heard the story. There are a number of reasons why this was the case, but I have some tips for you so that this will not be your story.
Every social media account should have an objective tied directly to your business goals – to get more customers, sell more product, launch a new product/service, increase brand awareness, etc.
To do that successfully on social media, you must build a quality audience, meaning people who will buy from you or refer you. Here are a few ways to build that quality audience:
🔻use a hashtag strategy to help get in front of people you don’t know (download my FREE guide for using hashtags here)
🔻when you’re at events meeting new people, ask them to follow you on social media
🔻if you’re a speaker, close by asking people to follow you
🔻if you have a brick and mortar store, put up a sign with your accounts and close each sale by asking people to follow you
🔻if you have an online boutique, include a call to action in your confirmation email to follow you
🔻run a contest or cross-promotion with other brands
🔻have quality information posted on your social accounts relevant to what you do so people want to follow you
🔻be sure your content targets the audience you want
These are just a few ideas, but you build a quality following with intention and consistency. What else do you do to increase your followers? Share in the comments below.
